Everyday feijoada
A simple feijoada with cooked beans, sausage and bacon. Without the lengthy preparation of salted meats.
What we'll need
- 4 cups cooked black beans with broth
- 200 g cooked smoked sausage
- 80 g diced bacon
- 1 piece onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 leaves bay leaf
- ¼ teaspoon salt to adjust (optional)
1 cup = 240 ml. Measurements follow the original recipe.
Serves 4 people.
Here's how it's done.

Chop the ingredients.
Chop onion and garlic. Slice sausage and dice bacon into small cubes.

Brown the bacon.
Cook bacon in the pot over medium heat, stirring until golden. Add sausage and brown for a few more minutes.

Sauté the aromatics.
Add onion and stir until softened. Add garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds.

Let it simmer.
Add beans with broth and bay leaf. Simmer on low for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Adjust and serve.
Remove bay leaf. Taste before adding salt because the meats are already salted. Serve with rice and orange.
