Fluffy white rice
White rice with every grain separate. A recipe to learn and keep for life.
What we'll need
- 1 cup white rice
- 2 cups hot water
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 tablespoon oil or olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
1 cup = 240 ml. Measurements follow the original recipe.
Serves 2 people.
Here's how it's done.

Gather the ingredients.
Measure rice and water. Peel and finely chop garlic. Keep a saucepan with a lid nearby.

Sauté the garlic.
Heat oil over low heat. Add garlic and stir until fragrant and lightly golden, about 45 seconds.

Add the rice.
Put rice in the pan and stir for about 1 minute, coating the grains in oil.

Add water and cook.
Carefully add hot water and salt. Once boiling, lower heat and leave the lid ajar. Cook for about 12 to 15 minutes without stirring. The timer reminds you to check at 12 minutes.

Rest and fluff the grains.
When grains are tender and water absorbed, turn off the heat. Cover and wait 5 minutes. Gently fluff with a fork and serve.
